Either mysqueezebox.com or your local squeezebox server will prompt your ip3k squeezebox for an upgrade (SB3 or SB2) then you press the brightness button and it installs. Or you have the SB3 set to automatically upgrade (recomended as only the original ir remote has the brightness button), then it will just upgrade as soon as the server has the new version (server= mysb.com or local sbs). The Boom will just upgrade as soon as the servers has the new version. If you are present you might catch it while doing it I think it flashes some message. But it is likely that one day it is upgraded without you notiving. Fw version is somewhere in the menu.
