Then I can only think of two options: 1) There's something wrong with your Squeezebox Server setup, so that the automatic volume adjustment ReplayGain has gone haywire. Or something in that vein.
2) Or there's a hardware error in the output stage of your SB3. In the latter case, don't throw it away.
