Just wanted to follow up regarding the rooted nook color. I never could get the official app to work. I started trying various other ones. Squeezetrol didn't work either at all but both SqueezeCommander and Sqeezer worked perfect right off the bat. The interface for Squeezer was lacking so I'm now with SqueezeCommander.
Thanks everyone for helping to diagnose/debug! I'm thinking its something in the way that they are making network calls.
