After reading through this thread and seeing the encouraging comments from users, along with the great responses by the creator of the app, I have installed it on my Motorola Defy + and my Archos 80 G9 tablet. Both devices installed the app very quickly, and they both instantly found my server on my network.
Just a minor point, my preference is to connect to my network server using a FQDN (rather than LAN IP address) so that I can also access it from outside of my home network. (e.g. myhomesqueezeserver.dyndns.org) It was not immediately clear if/how I could do this, until I found out that by pressing the 'Local Server' button, I could actually connect to a non-local server by entering the domain name. It would have been more obvious to me with a different button label than 'Local Server'. My initial impressions are that the user interface seems quick and really quite intuitive, worth every penny (or cent). When adjusting the player volume on my Archos,, I see both the Archos volume pop-up and the Orange volume pop-up appear, the Archos slider moves as I press the volume buttons (physical rocker switch on the device), but the Orange volume control does not respond, even though the actual volume changes. On my first attempt the Orange volume pop-up changed after the Archos pop-up closed (i.e. a couple of seconds lag). On the next attempt, the Orange pop-up did not update and just remained open on the screen. (The Orange volume slider on my phone moves in real-time to the physical key press) It seems to otherwise work fine with SqueezePlayer on both of my Android devices, and I have also connected it to my Logitech Squeezebox Radio. I had previously been using the Squeezebox Controller App, but I will be happy to use Orange Squeeze from now on. I will test it at work tomorrow where I use WinAmp as the player on my PC and will use Orange Squeeze to hopefully manage the playlist on my home server. A feature request would be to have a tray icon (?) (not sure if that is the correct term, I have only been using a smartphone & Android for a couple of weeks) Some of the apps I run (e.g. Accuweather, SqueezePlayer) leave a small icon in the tray when running so that I can easily toggle between them, without having to navigate to the app launch icon on the home screen if I switch to another app. I think I can probably install a task swicther or some similar app to achieve this, but wondered if it would be easy to implement a tray icon option within the app itself? Anyway thanks for the app and for your efforts in improving it. -- Guernsey Zoo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Guernsey Zoo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53272 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92330 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
