Thanks for the suggestion. I'm definitely looking at alternatives if this new unit from Mediasonic fails like the fist one did. Another side note: when the enclosure was offline, I fiddled with my home ethernet network. Usually fiddling leads to problems; however, something I did boosted my network transfers by a factor of 8-10x. For years I had "put up with" transfers over my network at about 13 mbps. The network now allows transfer speeds of 80-100 mbps. About the only thing I can think of is that I rebooted an ethernet switch.
