I'm told by people who claim to know better than I do that SSDs have two caveats
1. Never defrag them 2. Have a backup because you have finite read/write cycles. Otherwise I agree with your experience, they are faster and quieter. I'm currently re-ripping my CD collection to a SamsungT5 external USB SSD, which will replace my Western Digital USB HD soon. Unrelated to this, I've added an external SamsungT5 SSD to my sluggish 5yr old IMac and made it the boot device.
