yep, LP and album were the same to me. At some point I had 8-tracks in
the early 1970s for my car, and referred to them as "8-tracks".  Even
today, I'm like you in terms of referring to new (or old) releases, that
is "I really liked XXXX's new album" or "I finally listened to the XXXX
album".
