When I copied over my music, the Qnap was connected directly to the PC via ethernet. After I'd finished copying, I connected the Qnap by Ethernet to my wireless router/modem so it could become part of my wireless network, independent of the PC. I could have copied the files over the network without a direct PC connection, but I thought that ethernet might be quicker. Maybe not though. I hope that's clearer?
