The other issue is one of perception...I've been using Slimserver since before v5 and I've _never_ had a bad experience upgrading.
I have to second this. I've been using Slim Devices products since the SLIMP3 and have been on the forums since they were only mailing lists. I haven't had any really major problems, either. I think SDI is very open and helpful. And the community is very helpful here as well.
I can understand why it's frustrating as someone considering a product to see complaints, but if it's working properly there's little reason for those folks to post.
I can also understand why the rants upset people who spend a lot of their private time helping out here. My experience has been that if you ask nicely, people from the forum and SDI will do back-flips to help you out.
Rant about how Slimserver sucks, or it should do this or that (and can't any moron see that?) or whatever and you get a different response.
Anyway, I'm a happy user over time of SLIMP3, SB1G's, SB2's and SB3. Not to mention server versions going back far enough that I don't remember, certain in the 4 series, and probably earlier.
