That has been my theory all along - that nothing beats copper. For approximately the $50 a unit that the wireless card adds to the SB price, you can hire an electrician to wire your house with Cat 5 or 5e or 6.
Of course, you have to be owning and not renting. For those who rent, a slightly trickier option is powerline ethernet.
