The XLR input is for AES/EBU. It's very similar to S/PDIF but uses a
higher voltage, balanced signal, for professional setups and
long-distance runs.

Those are also S/PDIF. Your choice of capacitor-coupled RCA (like
Squeezebox and most other equipment) or the professional
transformer-coupled BNC. 

The BNC is often preferred for its locking action and controlled
impedance.
