Thanks for all the replies. :) I'll get a pair of the Devolo 85Mbps units and see if can use a double adapter in the outlet. Alternatively, it sounds like they should work fine in the extension (although this may impair their performance I'm sure they'll be plenty good enough for the intended purpose - getting a 1Mbp ADSL connection to a wireless deadspot).
