Happyfishman, This is a Windows issue rather than a QNAP issue. The public drive allows anonymous access so doesn't require a userid and password. Other drives probably don't allow anonymous access and require a userid and password. However, if you map to public first then you can't change the userid and password for the connections to the other drives.
To resolve the problem you have two choices: When mapping to the public share on QNAP select the option to "different user name" and re-connect at logon. You will then authenticate to the public share as a particuliar user rather than anonymous. Second option is create a batch file and place it in your startup folder: net use P: \\192.168.0.1\paul /u:paul yourpassword net use S: \\192.168.0.1\public because you connect to your user share first then the same credentials are used when you connect to the public share which will accpet anything as it is publically available -- Paul_B Paul ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Slimserver 6.3.1 on QNAP(1.2)~(160GB Maxtor) SB3 (x1) RIP - dBpowerAMP R12 (Alpha) to FLAC ID3 Tags - MP3Tag v2.36 Artwork - Album Cover Art Downloader v1.6.0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Paul_B's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3039 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20393 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
