For anyone on this thread who had issues with 6.5 and tried a 6.5.1 nightly last week ....
The 6.5.1 nightly Windows build croaked from about Tues-Wed to last night. So if you tried 6.5.1 and it didn't fix your issue, try it again. As for the weird noise mentioned, if been using 6.5 since about 3 weeks prior to release and have not heard anything like this issue.
