I just checked a second PC running iTunes 7 and it's using iTunes Music Library.xml.
I had assumed iTunes kept this info in the registry, but a registry search doesn't find it on my PC. Still, you might want to try deinstalling and reinstalling iTunes - that's been known to work for esoteric iTunes problems. Sync the 2 versions of the .xml file after the deinstall. Failing that, I suggest you force SS to use the iTunes Library.xml variant by explicitly configuring it in the SS server settings.
