Lame as it is, think of it as a "gentleman's agreement". There are utilities that can remove it for you. I don't think it escaped Apple that they could have simply used an opaque number to reference your entry in their customer database, or even put that number in a watermark. Watermarking an AAC file with only 32 bits of data would be quite easy.
