I have used Homeplug for a number of years (in UK) with input from router going in to one ring circuit and output from another ring circuit. There is a considerable drop in throughput; theoretically 14mbps and in practice less than 2mbps but this works adequately for Flac streaming. I have had nothing done to my electrics at the consumer unit to bridge the circuits.
So it can (sometimes) work.
