Live performance vs studio issues aside, I fear your suggested avenue
would cripple the music industry of new talent who cannot afford to
spend the minimum $75k required to record a new album worth of music.
Sure, they could pro tools it in the rec room or garage or home studio
but the sound results would be so horrid that the material wouldn't be
worth downloading in the first place.
