I can't find anything in searching, but maybe I'm just searching for the wrong thing - I find it hard to believe nobody's raised this. (Sorry if it's been raised before)!
Anyway - the bulk of my library is in ALAC, but some music is in FLAC. I've noticed that the FLAC files start and skip forward (not FF, just skip to next song) much better than the ALAC files, some of which take up to 30 seconds to start playing. I assume this is because FLAC is in the SB3 firmware? 1: Is there any way to speed up the ALAC processing? 2: I don't quite understand why ALAC is not in the SB3 firmware as well as FLAC. The ALAC decoder is just a piece of decoding software - what difference does it make whether it is stored on the SB3 (in firmware) or on the computer/server (and transcodes there)? What am I missing?
