It looks like you are experiencing bug #4266 ( http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4266 ) although opened in 2006 - more comments were added this year. There is a patch in the bug comments but it only works for non MP3 streams. There are other patches in this thread from post #18 onwards ( http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=27996 ) . These patches still seems valid but theire location has slightly moved.
