I'm running 7.0.1 r2448 on SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1 - 19705 ? Maybe factory reseting the Controller with it's new firmware ?

I think theres an "version" file of some kind that can be edited I have a vague recollection of such a tread ? I maybe totally wrong to I'm no expert just a user that likes this forum .
