I have this problem with both of my units. Although I have a covered area to my patio, it is pretty much impossible to use either controller outside. Unfortunately as is usual for me, by the time I got round to installing the outside the speakers I had gone past 30 days. It never crossed my mind that the display would not be as visible as my pda phone, so I did not test it!
