There have been some good points in this thread. I concur with those who say you need to look at the ROI of the change. It is better to have made the switch to OSS before the economic downturn if that is the route you are taking. It's a bit like preparing for a disaster. When the disaster strikes it's too late to prepare. I'd put it in the "ambivalent" list. If the entire company took the day off (subject to operational concerns also seen on a weekend) then every 2nd weekend could be a long weekend. [1] Although this varies with jurisdiction. So it will be more desirable in some places than others.
