Hi Karen,

Normally, a data CD requires no special settings. There are though special settings requiredwhen burning Audio CDs for playing in standard home CD and car audio CD players.

I guess saying "not writable" may be overstating the issue. It's possible that a CDRW that has been previously written to will be considered not writable initially but once you use Disk Utility to erase it, the CD will act properly once again. Now if Toast has been set to handle the CD burning then all the icon on the desktop stuff flies out the window. Toast overrides the Finder's burner app so things operate differently. In Toast, you can tell it to be a Data CD and then there is a Drag and Drop area where you can place the files you wish to have burned to CD. As well, there is an Add button that will let you add files through a Browser instead of the Drag and Drop method. In either case, Toast handles the interphase with the burner and thus all remarks on how things work through the Finder are nice to know but somewhat moot. Clear as yellow snow I bet so if you still have questions, go ahead and ask.
