After you click on the iso file name, finder will mount the iso image as if it were a disc on your system. Just use finder to go back to the root folder of your main drive, and look at it in there.
It will probably work better that way.
Of course, if that's what you're already doing, then feel free to disregard this message. I know a lot of folks here use the command-o key command to open things. I never do. I simply click or mouse click as necessary to open things, and I've never encountered the problem you're talking about (well, my idisk does that a lot, but that's likely because of network congestion)
