a little confusion on setting up budy alerts

Hey guys,
OK, a little confused on how to setup buddy alerts for when people  
come on line.
Not quite sure how to do it.  I couldn't find it in alerts.
There was an option in i chatter to setup custom voices for each buddy.
Any thoughts?
