Hi Robin,
Yes, when you use command+delete the file is put into the trash. After a period of time, pending on how often you have the need to discard files, it is a good idea to empty the trash. That can be done in one of two ways.

1. Go to the menu bar (VO keys+m), press f for file; use the down- arrow to look for "empty trash", or press e to take you right to it.

2. Go to the Dock, (VO keys+d), arrow over to the trash. Use the down-arrow to open the menu and select "empty trash."

As for the progress indicator being displayed while copying files: I think this depends on the size of the file. When I copy large files, such as NLS books there is a progress indicator. It says something like "copy in progress", and then says "unknown". If you "interact with the "unknown" (VO keys+shift+down-arrow) you will then be able to read the progress indicator; its file name, how much of the file has been copied, and how much is still remaining.

Hi Cheryl,
Thanks a lot! Will the files be completely deleted or moved to a recycle
bin like in Windows?
Also, when I copy files, it says something like copying, but there's no
progress indicator, it doesn't show how much time is remaining and it
also doesn't indicate which file it is copying... Is there a way to find
that out? Thanks!
Robin

Hi Robbin,
You can delete files by doing one of two things.

1. When you are placed over the file you wish to delete
simply press
command+delete.

2. If you are wanting to delete more than one file then do this:

A. Enable VO keys by depressing them along with semi colon.
B. Disable curser tracking with VO keys+shift+F3.
C. Travel down the list of files using the down arrow and adding to
your selections to be deleted by depressing command+space.

Hint: make sure you are on a file you want highlighted when
you begin
since that file will automatically be highlighted.

Take care,
Cheryl Edwards
