no, what I meant is that if the user is an administrator on the system, you shold be able to do what you need to do.

so are you saying that as things currently stand, you can log in but not with the user name whose password you cannot remember? if this is the case and the user name you are logging in with is admin then you can go ahead and boot normally, login with that user and pass and make any changes to any
account you need to make.

OK managed to find the utility but think i might be  using the wrong
username it didn't gimve an option to change that but did manage to change
the passwore. now what do i do about the user name?
