M4A are AAC files. In my opinion, they tend to have better quality at lower file-size, and most people i've talked to agree. You will need to convert them to MP3 for most devices. They are not MP3, though some MP3 players, even besides iPods, do play them.

Listers what exactly is a .m4a audio file? Is it the same as a .mp3 file? Do I need to convert these to .mp3 files for most non computer CD players like car stereos and such?
