What do you mean by something else? I am using a USB headset and nothing is plugged into the audio out or audio in.

if you have something other than a headset plugged into the audio out jack, you can direct system sounds to go to a different source thus leaving vo to
the main source or vise versa.

Listers is ther a way to listen to voice over through my headset but
the system audio come through the computer speakers. Sometimes I can
make the navigational sounds come through the headphones and voice
over come through the speakers and vice versa. I really would like to
use voice over and have a book playing out loud.
