OK, here's exactly what I do.
#1 start your virtual machine.
#2 hit cmd-g to grab keyboard input. Voiceover will say grab keyboard
input.
#3 After the cd spins for a few seconds, you'll be at the boot prompt,
just hit enter.
#4 sit back and take a nap, it's going to take a bit for the CD to boot.
#5 You'll eventually hear the welcome jungle sound.. just keep waiting
until the CD stops spinning.
#6 hit alt-f2, *not control like I originally said.* Remember, alt on
a mac keyboard is really option.
#7 You'll know you're on the right track as your CD will spin up
again. Just wait a few seconds for good measure.
#7 Type the word orca and hit enter.
Orca will load at this point and if you're lucky, it'll work. If
you're like me though, you'll hear this terrible sound coming from
your speakers and headset. I don't know why it doesn't work for me, I
hear the welcome sound just fine, but Orca's synth doesn't seem to
work. Maybe it's got to do with something that gets loaded before the
sound drivers do? I really don't know, but if I could somehow get
this working, I'd be very happy.

OK, I'm still very much the beginner here, so what I'm about to
suggest may be more easily accomplished. I never seem to get Orca
correctly started using the boot menu, so I just hit enter and let
the live CD boot normally. After I hear the welcome jungle sound an
the CD spins down, I hit ctrl-f2 which will bring up a run prompt...
or whatever it's called in Linux. I then type orca and hit
return... Within a few seconds, Orca starts speaking. This assumes
I'm actually booting off the CD, I still can't get it working in a
virtual machine.
