I absolutely agree.
Lets also write apple and tell them how much we appreciate their efforts!

Hi,

I am with you cara, accessible products should still look cool -
accessibility should be built in and not an add on that way you don't
have to make a statement about your disability based on the mobile you
have.

I think that we have to be optemistic Apple is moving forward and faster
than many others - speech right out the box on computers and new ipods
is really pushing boundaries and we don't have any indication that Apple
will stop there so lets enjoy things and keep possitive - that way
developers will see efforts are worth it because there products are
being used.

Will, lemme just start off by saying damn! lol! I mean Damn! -
Paranoid much?... <smile>

sorry, but how on earth can you say with such certainty that access
to the IPhone will never come, firstly, considering what has just
happened in the last couple of days; and secondly, when there are
already touch screen devices out there with usable access?... What's
the deal?...

Why are you so sure that this will never happen?...

If you'd like to start feeling less down-trodden, one way to do that
is to take a more active role in your world. Also, a way of dealing
with people more constructively is to actually pose suggestions and
ideas rather than simply sitting back and coming up with ways to shoot
those ideas of others down. Would you like to have a positive spin in
your world, or a negative one? The choice is yours!...

I Truly wish you / yours the best!...

Have an awesome day!...

Cara :)

hi they soon cater for the deaf with text services, what about us?
all this equal access rights never gets implemented who are we kiding? let's be honest, apple are committed to acessibility that is clear and

evident yet they bring out a phone which works for all markets but the

blind and to be honest it probably never will as it is a touch screen
and i don't wat to carry round keyboard and extra stuff to use a
mobile phone

Cara - my point exactly! Technology costs quite a bit still really,
and it's something that we have to rely on more than most. My
thinking has always been that if I've got to shell out for this
stuff, I at least want to enjoy using it and look good as a geek
hehe. What bugs me about all this though is that there is such a
thing as accidental access right? As in, code gets re-written and
ends up being accessible just because the programmer uses good
practices etc.
I'm pretty certain that's not what's happened here with iTunes, which

means that it's probably been on the list of things to do for a while

and they've eventually got to the point where the biggies have been
ironed out and they can spend a little time on it. That's fine, I'm
not expecting them realistically to prioritise a small-ish market
like us before time, I just wish someone could send me a copy of the
list of things to do each week lol. What I'm saying I guess is that
if I knew it was a similar situation with the iPhone, where Apple
have every intention of implimenting a solution they've already got
ideas for etc, I'd wait and keep up this fake friendship I've
developed with symbian, specially if I could check on us slowly
moving up the list every now and then. It's wishful thinking of
course... bummer.

I'm sorry people, but looks, style, and the cool factor are
important to me. When technology and creativity are put together to

solve an issue without an air of compromise, the solution is
wonderfully edgey and pure art!...

Purely speculation of course, but I can't ever see Apple doing an
overlay. Sticking something on a touch screen just isn't slick
enough, it's even more clumsy than shoving an extra device in to
the bottom of your iPod ... just not Apple's style. My guess, if
it ever happens, is that it'll be a combo of some sort of feedback
via vibrations, and navigating with jestures that would simulate
something like hitting a VO-right and VO-left on a mac. Between
the two, it'd be pretty usable surely.

I agree with this one but Don't hold your breath. For example,How

long did it take to make the hottest music download page to become

that's all we need, a keyboard, then we could totally use VO.

Well, there are a few tactile buttons for volume, home, ring/
silent and sleep/wake. Everything else is through the touch
screen.
Maybe they will eventually just put VO on the iPhone. It
supposedly is OSX under the hood.

Hello All,
I just wanted you to know that I wrote an appreciation EMail

to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and they responded. I really
appreciate that as well as the fixes.
They also mentioned a new Accessibility page,
http://www.apple.com/accessibility/
So I'm going to the Accessibility page to see what's new.
