Has anyone considered the micro sd technology?… A 16 GB card for a
thumb drive will soon be out (or should be, at least) for about the US
$40 /$50 price point.
I'm not sure of the particular data rate capabilities of micro sd,
but I can't imagine it would be prohibitive for music players?…
Anyone have tech specs?…
Now I'm obviously sure that Apple are well aware of the current /
new tech, lol! but I mention the above as I wonder if anyone might
know of the current type of memory in the new nanos?… For the price
point of the device, it actually sounds like an 8 or 16 GB flash
drive, as Scott mentioned, and I'm wondering if a micro sd system
could keep up?…
Anyway, just some thoughts…
Have a terrific day, All!…
Smiles,
Cara :)

To be honest, at this point although flash drives are coming down in
price, your still looking at $1,000 or so for 64Gb and probably not
that much less for a smaller drive. The thing is they won't do it
unless it's reasonably affordable. Why turn out a 20Gb or even 40Gb
iPod that is flash drive-based if it'll cost the consumer $500 or
more dollars. This is just my speculation of course.
