Update. I just made a call using my computer's keyboard. It went through normally and I was able to leave a message on my mobile phone using the usb phone. It wasn't as clear as the mic on my Mac but it worked. I also took a call from a friend using the phone and she said it sounded mumbly in the beginning but then cleared up.
