Simon,
This is not a mac solution however I would recommend downloading
GRML and using that. You will have to do some research to do it, However
it is totally accessable. This is a bootable distribution of Linux from the
cli Good luck.

Subject: Partitioning external drive using VO and disk utility

Dear Listers,

I have just done research in the macvisionaries archive, and I can see
that Josh did have the same problem in 2007. I can't however find any
answers to his questions which I'm gonna repeat below. Please bear
with me.

I'm trying to partition my external 150 gb drive into 3 paritions, one
of them suitable for Windows XP. I can see the buttons where I can
specify the number of partitions. I can't however set the volume
criteria nor can I give names to my various volumes or specify further
criteria for them. there's a scroll area which I can interact with but
I get unknowns there with which I cannot further interact.

Can anyone give me some advice? Can it be done with Voiceover? Can
names be assigned to volumes so that I know which one is which?

Thanks for any ideas/clues.

With best wishes

Simon
