Trying out NumberPad on someone's iPod Touch motivated me to get a USB Numeric KeyPad for my MacBook. It wasn't high priority, since I'm used to Tiger and am not running Fusion, but I want to exercise the Numpad Commander capabilities. As for the iPod Touch interface, you'll probably like your full keyboard a lot better, but I was able to get used to tapping the surface of the iPod Touch fairly well, especially with VoiceOver's feedback. It helps that the layout is not too differently sized from real keys, and that you can use keyboard practice mode to get used to things. Let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi Esther,
Thanks. I mentioned it to him and he's interested in seeing how it does. I also have an iMac and a Mac mini and both keyboards have numeric keypads. BTW. The Airport Extreme is really nifty and I love the software interface. I had no problems at all in setting up a network.

Hi Dan,

Didn't you say your son has an iPod Touch? If your AirPort network is working, have him try getting the NumberKey app from the iTunes Store and try running it with VoiceOver and Numpad Commander -- or just for entries in TextEdit. You'll need to have him download the NumberKey program from the developer's site onto your Mac and set up wireless pairing. I think the app is $2. This is pretty neat, especially if you only have a MacBook without a numeric keypad. See my earlier post in this thread for more details.

Cheers,

Esther

Kindof makes me curious to know if this works like on the Nano, so that you have to have a pc or a Mac to sync with in order to get the spoken interface? If so, you could probably use the computers system voice which in my case would mean that i could be using Acapella Ingmar as my default Ipod voice.
