Opa! Hitting space worked. Yes, I ran permissions. It told me that
three things were wrong but it was all jibberish to me. Something
about rwr and airport and two other things. I can't remember off the
top of my head. I then did varify permissions and it said the same
thing, so I'm not sure if it did anything.

Hello Tiffanitsa and all:
Silly question (smile). do not kill me. I remember you posted a
question and it was suggested that you run permissions. some silly
human wrote a really long explanation on how that might be
accomplished. did you ever run verify permissions and repair
permissions? this might go some way to relieving your problem ...
though that is not a guarantee. try running those functions and
restarting and see if that helps.
Good luck.

Tiffany, this is a bug whereby VO will only sometimes read this
dialogue. If you're focused on it when it comes up VO may
accidentally read it, but more often than not, at least in my case,
the pertinent info won't be spoken.
This dialogue can come up for a number of reasons, and restarting
finder nor letting it sit there will not have an effect, as trash
simply will either not know what you want it to do with the file in
question, or it will be asking you to confirm as the file may either
be locked, or in some way have it's permissions set so that you may
not have immediate permission to delete it.
If you only have a few files in the folder you can press the
continue button by only using the space bar on it, and not using VO
space. Tab to the button and just press space to activate it. Now,
as I said, if there are only a few files you may see another similar
dialogue come up as other files may be locked and such, and you may
need to confirm on all of them. Simply trying to delete the entire
folder will not necessarily help, as trash will again ask you to
confirm these same files.
One thing you can try, if you haven't already, is to select the
trash icon in the dock, and use your down arrows to select the
'empty trash' option. Once you do, hold down your option key and
press enter. This will force a delete without confirmations in most
cases.
If this still doesn't work, write back and we'll go from there…
Best of luck and have an awesome evening!…
Smiles,
Cara :)

Nope. Restarting didn't fix it and the program that would use the
file isn't even on. I was able to delete similar files in that
folder
with no problem. I think I'll just save the ones I want and delete
the whole folder. It's not even that important but it's frustrating
and I want a way around this.

Hello Tiffanitsa and all:
I have a good guess why this is happening though I am not sure why
you
cannot click on the stop or continue buttons ... which are the ones
you should be seeing.
If you are getting such a situation, the computer believes that
one of
the programs you are attempting to toss out in the trash is being
used
by some other program. if it thinks that some program is using a
file
in the trash it will not toss it out and will attempt to ask you
what
you want to do with the empty trash function ... aka ... stop or
continue.
Restarting your computer will probably work because the file will
be
released from the program it is supposedly using.
Good luck.

I don't know why, but sometimes, when I delete something, I get
this
empty trash dialogue. When I try to read it it just says list.
I try
to interact with the list and get operation progress. I go
further
and it just says image. When I hit tab it says continue and stop
but
no matter what I try, nothing works. It just gets stuck. I've
tried
VO and space, enter and even command VO f5 and then VO shift
space but
nothing. The only way for me to get out of it is to force quit
finder. Usually, when I empty the trash, I can delete things
again
but this time, it's not working. I did a force quit finder and
tried
to empty trash but the button is dimmed. I'm gonna restart and
then
try again. Does anyone know what's going on here?
