Thanks. Actually, under Spot Light, there was something checked called "Spot Light Window Keyboard Short cut." I unchecked that box and now command+w closes a finder window like I expect.

Hi,

Turn off the Original Spotlight. Go to System Preferences and click on Spotlight. Then disable it. The older type that is.

Thanks,
Alex,

Hello. For about the last week or so, I've had a strange problem with Finder. Whenever I close a finder window, Finder wants to bring up a search box. Let's say I open a folder called /users/ rmann/mp3. After I'm done with that folder I hit command+w to close the window. Instead of just closing the window, A search box appears that says something like, searching this mac. Before about a week or so, Finder would just close the window like I expect. What can I do to fix this? This is a little anoying.
Thanks.
