I suppose if you were to only have one of the 5 programs on your
computer, then this would be okay, but if you would run 2 or more of the
components, you wouldn't save disk space. OOo is substantially smaller
than MSO because it has shared code. MSO is huge because each component
can run independently.
Furthermore, you have the ability to only install the components you
like once you download it. So, it seems, that you get the best of both
worlds.
