Very true, Ian. Far too many think that freedom of speech is a right (it
is a privilege, not a right) that allows them to say whatever, whenever,
wherever they feel like it. Even the US founding fathers did not intend
it that way. A small child regards itself as the centre of the universe
and may think that way but as we get older we're supposed to learn
social skills and responsibility for our actions and our speech. That
ultimately means we must learn to get along with others in a group and
learn when and how it is appropriate to make a contribution to a
discussion. The worthy Mr. Smith is indeed a very knowledgeable
individual, but his "people skills" are in need of work. When he is
prepared to participate in a social manner I will unblock his address in
my mail program. Until then I am not obliged to listen to someone who
treats the differing opinions of others the way he does. That is MY right.

I have strayed from the subject of this group and I offer my apologies
for the digression.
