Hi Clois
I have been using Microsoft Excel for 10 plus years and I can't quite
figure
out how to autofill in the following format:
Dec, 05
Nov,05
Oct,05
etc.
Calc does autofill in the way that you are expecting.
The problem is that what you are typing in is not being recognised as a
date. Calc is assuming that it is just text, so the autofill isn't working.
The problem may be with your regional settings, I'm not sure.
I have mine set up as Australian English, so "Dec, 05" isn't recognised as
a date. But when I type in "5 Dec", Calc is able to recognise it as being
a date, and the autofill works.
However, although "5 Dec" was recognised as a date, the date format wasn't
changed to display "5 Dec". Instead, the date was displayed with the
default date format of "05/12/06". I'm not sure whether Calc can be set up
to automatically change the date format to match what is typed in - I've
never seen the option. Maybe someone else can tell us if it is possible.
I was able to set the date format to display dates the way you would like,
by the way. That date format is "MMM, DD".
So I suppose you will need to experiment with either changing your
regional settings to accept the date the way you were typing it, or to
experiment in Calc to find out what date formats you can type in that are
actually recognised as dates.
Hope this helps.
Adrian
