Regarding the editing, terminal formats like those are basically 'paper
waiting to happen' and not for editing.

Regarding exporting...
No, sorry. XPS is the new name of the failed initiative, formerly
called Metro, to create a non-open imitation of PDF which is tied to a
specific platform and vendor.

Use of documents trapped in XPS format, specifically, is contingent
entirely upon the one companies products. In contrast, PDF is fully
documented, approved by several standards organizations and fully
available in perpetuity for use in open source applications like
OpenOffice.org. If something has changed and the XPS format has
suddenly become available in perpetuity for open source implementation
(requires the whole spec), then please speak up. Otherwise ...

Smart users stay away from poor technology like that. It wasn't added
to MSO 2007 because it is useful for *you*. It was added to gain
gate-keeper status to *your* data. It's like Roach Motel (tm) for your
data.

So, if you want to keep your print-on-demand documents available in the
future, please continue with PDF. Since the specification for PDF is
freely available without restriction you do not have to worry that data
will be lost in the future as a result of licensing conflicts.

I encourage you to take advantage of the ubiquitous and open standard
PDF, which OpenOffice.org and many other good applications have full
support for.

Regards,
-Lars
