in case you still have that need, you can surely do that kind of stuff
with shell and Perl scripts: just look at the "What's next" section of
http://freesoftware.zona-m.net/why-and-how-opendocument-format-can-save-you-lot-time

If you can follow that approach, you don't even have to _have_
OpenOffice installed, except, probably, to run it at the end of the
process, to convert the OpenDocument files to MS Office formats.

The easyness with which everybody can do this kind of things with
OpenDocument is, in and by itself, enough of a reason to abandon MS
Office formats for good, in favor of OpenDocument
