If I release a final 1.0 version of the API by the end of this year, it will
be harder to reach these two goals at the same time:
 - Ensure backward compatibility of user applications (goal of a stable API)
 - Leave the API open enough for discussion with the JSR expert group

Sure, but if a JSR proposal is submitted, it means that the final state of
the API will be the result of the work of the expert group. So I just don't
want to put a stick in the ground and say: "1.0 is already/nearly released,
so whatever we decide in this group has to be backward compatible with 1.0".

I hope that clarifies my position.

Best regards,
Jerome
