This reasons for this proposal is as follows:
People are intimidated by the word hacker. This has been observed by a few of
our members when marketing the space and it was even enough of an issue to be
brought up at our WSKU interview. The term makerspace is friendlier to the
general population than hackerspace. Markus told us at the last meeting he
attended that the Chicago makerspace said they had a lot more success with the
term makerspace than hackerspace. This may be a better PR move.

Members should be free to call it what they want.
** Trever believes that the label is a false dichotomy. We shouldn't call it
anything, so it should be called whatever we want. Take off the word
"Hackerspace" out of logos and promotional material. Still up in the air, maybe
"Make Share Create?" Noisebridge - "We spurn the key and lock."

on (and there will be lots more after we get the space) that it might be time
to talk about membership responsibilities and holding those who hold them to
account. All of us should be equally responsible for the success or failure of
the space as an organization and not rely on certain higher-level members to
move things along. Examples of duties: PR/Social Media presence, custodial
duties, wiki spam cleanup, maintenance and inventory of equipment, speaking
events, demonstrations to the public, etc.
Holding to responsibilities could be accomplished by positive reinforcement of
some kind (special titles, access to VPS services, higher-level trust in
Syn/Hak electronic infrastructure, reduced memberships, etc.).
* "Being awesome to everyone" should be enough to motivate members to pitch in
and help out. Leadership should take the lead in the sharing of
responsibilities. Revisit later when it actually becomes a problem.
* '''SysAdmin Meetings''' - Also, proposal for monthly/bi-monthly strategy
meetings involving members and important non-members (relrod for example) to
talk solely about website, social media, and space electronics administration
(servers, lab workstations, door keys, etc.). Could be physical, could be
conference call or IRC chat.
Passed - 60 minutes before meeting last week in month, get computer-inclined
people involved.
