Yes we could use those! We have both standard sized glue guns. The bigger diameter is also a high temp for using the better adhesives.
Thanks,
D.

Minor point about glue sticks -

Inline image 1

There are/were/should be/might be/who knows at least three or four short (5in) glue sticks in a plain brown box of misc good stuff that I delivered to SH last week.  They are all the large size, about 3/8in in diameter.

If anybody in the herd at SH can use that size, I will be happy to raid my secret supply cave and grab a handful of the full length (12in) sticks.

Reply by 5pm and they will appear at SH before 7pm today.

The shrink tubing has been cut down into manageable sections and placed into a bin and marked. The bin is located on the shelf in the electronics lab, with the other electronic bits. The other assorted bins are currently living on the dirty white plastic roller cart near the tool wall in the main space. One bin is labeled hot glue guns, if there is no spare sticks in there, then we are out.

Most of the recent moving and rearranging of smaller things specifically tools is my doing. I was going good until I ran out of bins, the labeler was throwing fits, and I saw a shiney coin on the floor and walked away.

If Andy will divulge where he procured those small white bins, I can pick up a few more to finish the job. I do feel we need a surplus of bins, either the type we currently use, or hanging "akrobin" style containers. I am tapped out with the amount of money I have been spending on the space, and probably will be for quite some time. If someone else would like to step up; or poke the treasurer to release some funds for this purpose, I would give you the best high five ever.

Also with the chaos of the holidays, space events and matters, plethora of projects, and the ever dwindling floor space, the shop has become quite cluttered. Most of this I will also claim responsibility for. I am a messy individual, and need to clean up after myself. Hopefully with some loaned storage racks I have yet to pick up from Justin, and a mythical large rolling tool box I am awaiting, most of the tool/machine clutter can be minimized.

Talk to Devin, I'm pretty sure he was using it Sunday night.  He might know where it is.

This is just my opinion, but I really don't think we need policies or procedures on how to clean/rearrange the space.  We're a do-ocracy.  If you want to do something, do it.  That's how we moved the kitchen area from the back corner to where it is today by the welcome bar.  Someone didn't like how it was arranged, so they changed it for the better.  Sure, sometimes it's a bit difficult to find things in the space (I won't argue with you that we do need better organization), but I'd much rather have a somewhat organized space and not be able to find shrink tubing than have a filthy space where nothing is organized and scare off potential new members because "that place is a pigsty".

If we have policies saying that "Oh, you need to follow this SOP in order to clean the space", then people won't clean the space.  If you place barriers between the membership and the do-ocratic nature of the space, then the do-ocracy dies.

Hi, we had a 3 month supply of heatshrink, yesterday.  Really, no heatshrink bin, no big tube of it, no (what i thought was) hidden stash in the soldering area?

Consider me lois reacting to the lack of paper towels (except heatsink is to both create and fix, and paper towels usually can only repair).

As i've mentioned to a few people, I'll back any proposal that gives guidance to an expectation of a little more sludge in massively rearranging things without being an order or a procedure.  Yes there are lots of areas that are not optimally arranged, and the needs change everyday, but there are a few people who aren't here everyday that are trying (desperately) to learn where everything is.  <imo  Let's steer the boat slower, it's too big to make these hairpin turns anymore /imo>

I don't for a second want to keep someone from rearranging something to one of the several better possibilities, but perhaps casually mention your better system in a meeting or on discuss@ as your doing it, make a sign where the objects used to be pointing towards where it is now.  It's driving me crazy that the second I learn where something is it gets re-homed to a place that's far more diffrent than better.  omni where did the hot glue sticks go!?!?

Am I alone in this?
