I see also now that there is a driver for MySQL v3 in CF administrator. I
assume this one will work?

As Steve said, you can remotely connect to MySQL as you would remotely
connect to SQL Server.  It is a different port and you need to make sure to
use the appropriate JConnector driver from mysql.org  <http://mysql.org> .
