Yep, I've seen the same here. Newer jvms are going to be faster so it's always a good idea to keep an eye on them. Adobe clearly also cleaned up their coding on CF8 to make things run faster. But if you're stuck on CF7 or 6, a jvm upgrade can certainly do a lot.
