Well, if I can play devil's advocate for a moment, it's a nice thought (the doubling effect) but in reality the number of people who read CF blogs (let alone any one) is pretty small, so while we can hope that word could spread, it seems we should not get our hopes up of seeing hundreds, tens, or honestly even thousands of new CF developers. :-)
I mean, sure, it could happen, either by this effort or just naturally. CF sales and interest are definitely picking up, so no one should read my note as being anything less than enthusiastic about it, as always. Just seems that a note of pragmatism is in order. No offense intended toward John (or Sean), of course. And maybe you meant the "doubling" as a somewhat tongue in cheek suggestion. Anyway, thanks for sharing the link. Good thoughts (and LOTs of comments already). /charlie -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John Mason Sent: Monday, January 14, 2008 10:26 AM To: discussion@acfug.org Subject: [ACFUG Discuss] Convert a non-CF developer to CF Sean Corfield did a very interesting blog entry last week about the marketing and growth of the CF community. It's well worth the read.. http://corfield.org/blog/index.cfm/do/blog.entry/entry/Common_ColdFusion_Arg uments Sean gives a little challenge or new year's resolution if you like at the end. Simply convert a non-CF developer to CF. Pretty simple really. Apparently there's about 400,000 CF developers out there these days. If we each did our part, we could easily double that.
