It's indeed a bummer when this happens, for all concerned (you, and all those who get email sent from your account). I hear you saying you see no signs of a virus or "change".
But you should at least change your password at att.net. It may be merely that someone got your password (perhaps by phishing you or someone else who you may let access the account). Changing it will keep them out, at least until somehow they are able to phish it again.
